Every year, KURZ puts their finger on the pulse of time and observe which socio cultural developments will be sparking new creative forms of expression. By looking to the future, KURZ are also playing with time. Where will the next hours, minutes, seconds take us? Where are the boundaries, which cracks are opening up, where is change about to happen?
As the trend to greater depth and more substance continues to spread, it marks the end of a period defined by extreme opposites and bewildering movements. Everything has depth, has social criticism at its core, and acts as a driver for a new creative urge. From a yearning for sensual IRL (in real life) experiences in a digital world, pointing a finger at injustice, celebrating maximum moderation or satirical denouncement, none of these four main trends are superficial, none are purely decorative.

A Painful but Intriguing Wakeup Call:
The New Drama is fate, grief and pain. The packaging
provides a fitting stage and shines a spotlight on what
will move future generations: Inspired by baroque still
lifes, elegant, romantic and yet dominated by deep,
dark-red tones that are punctuated by light effects.
Roses like blood. Tears like gemstones. As theatrical
as Caravaggio’s tenebrism. Light and shade create

The Great Analog
Back to Real Life Experience:
The Great Analog casts a glance back to an age full of tactile experiences. Like this type box. Back in the 1980s these were a décor feature in practically every house, harking back to a bygone age. Formerly used to sort lead type in printing shops, they had become obsolete – but were given a fresh lease of life as display cases for all manner of knickknacks and memorabilia. Shown here with objects that made history. Micro-embossed to feel like wood.

The Non Sense
Creepy Is the New Chic:
The world has been turned upside-down! Welcome to an absurd kaleidoscope of different moods and playful energy. Humorous, confusing, refreshingly different with distorted perspectives. The combination of colours and muted grey, loud and quiet nuances upends our conventional way of viewing things. These colours dance with transparency and form new connections. The surprise effect is underscored by tactile embossing.

The Very Nothing
The Beautiful Zero:
“The Very Nothing” shines from within. From the core, concentrically emanating from a matte silver circle. Poetic, simple and calm. The outside lines are encircled by ultrafine embossed lines and dots, shot through with a tone-in-tone shimmer produced by the paper, a tactile finish and effects. Like floating elements, they are in perpetual motion. Drifting towards each other, flowing together – and secured by a sophisticated clasp with blind embossed lettering.
