Cold transfer process used to add the vibrant colours to the 2024 Kurz calendar

Every year, the KURZ calendar showcases the rich tapestry of a different country’s culture and heritage. For 2024, the spotlight falls on Vietnam, a choice deeply intertwined with the inauguration of KURZ’s new production site in the picturesque Vietnamese province of Binh Dinh on 8 September 2023.

Vietnamese motifs, steeped in tradition and natural beauty, have been meticulously woven into the fabric of the calendar. At its heart lies the lotus flower, a symbol that graces ponds and lakes across the nation. Often referred to as the “flower of life,” it embodies purity, resilience, and the steadfast commitment to preserving cherished traditions amidst challenges.

The 2024 Kurz calendar with both visual and tactile appeal

Picture Vietnam, and the vibrant green expanse of rice terraces springs to mind. As the world’s leading rice producer, rice cultivation is an integral part of Vietnamese identity. Thus, verdant floral patterns and embellishments bedeck the calendar pages. Additionally, the majestic Vietnamese dragon, resplendent in gold, adorns the upper right corner, further influencing the cultural narrative.

In this tableau, nature seamlessly merges with architectural splendour. The watchtower of Bich Van Thien Tu Temple, perched atop the highest peak in Indochina, nestles within the lotus blossom. In stark contrast, the modern marvel that is Landmark 81, soaring 461.2 metres above Ho Chi Minh City, represents the future of Vietnamese architecture.

2024 Kurz calendar includes both cold transfer and embossing to offer both visual and tactile appeal

The intricate details, from the lotus petals to the calendar numerals, were meticulously applied through cold transfer using ALUFIN® KPS Slim, then embellished with a luminous golden sheen. The sepals, a vivid crimson, radiate with the brilliance of LUXOR® 392. Even the silhouette of Vietnam in the lower right corner pays homage to the country’s flag with a vibrant red hue. At the heart of it all, the flower stamp, embossed in LUMAFIN® 760 Pink, offers a tantalising glimpse of a quintessential Vietnamese pagoda.

Beyond visual appeal, KURZ elevates the calendar’s tactile experience, demonstrating the profound impact of relief contours. The golden embossing, executed with LUXOR® 385, showcases the signature brilliance of KURZ’s gold tones.

This artistic journey encompassed five meticulous steps. Each element, from outlines to the lotus flower stamp, underwent a distinct cold transfer or embossing process, adding depth and dimension to the calendar’s visual narrative.

As we unveil the 2024 KURZ calendar, we invite you to embark on a sensory journey through Vietnam’s rich cultural tapestry. From the delicate lotus to the resplendent dragon, every detail tells a story of heritage, resilience, and progress. This calendar is not just a visual delight; it’s a tactile experience, a testament to KURZ’s unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and creativity.
